Trip Outfitting

We get asked a lot, ‘should I bring my own gear, or rent from you?’ The biggest benefit to renting our gear is that we know it fits in the vehicles. It’s tried and true and fits in compact storage containers. Storage space is a commodity in our rigs, especially if you have more than 2 travelers. If you do plan to bring your own gear, definitely pack as light and compact as possible.

What should I bring?

  • Camping equipment – outdoor rug, chairs, etc.
  • Kitchen equipment – plates, bowls, utensils, pots/pans etc.
  • BBQ and/or Stove – you can always grill over the fire if you want.
  • Ice chest – make sure to have a good one that keeps ice from melting quickly.
  • Lighting – it gets dark off-the-grid. Make sure you have ample lighting like flashlights, headlamps, lantern etc.
  • Fresh water storage – make sure to have a container to keep and dispense fresh water. Bottled water is cool, but it takes up space and is horrible for the environment. Bring a refillable bottle and a freshwater dispenser and you’re set!
  • Communication devices as desired. GPS device, paper maps of your intended travel destinations and/or pre-downloaded offline maps. You can always visit the visitor center or ranger stations for maps too.

What do the rigs come with?

Your essentials fee covers the vehicle (not trailers) to be stocked with some basic necessities. We provide the following in each rig:

  • First aid/emergency kit
  • Fire extinguisher
  • Tire repair kit
  • Tire deflation tools
  • Air compressor
  • Lithium ion battery jump starter
  • Leveling blocks + level
  • Traction boards (Tacoma)
  • Small flashlight
  • Small inverter
  • Basic tool kit
  • Full sizespare tire

Gear Highlights

Some of our favorites we offer for rent.

  • DC Fridge/Freezer – keep your food and drinks cold without the hassle of melting ice.
Campfire-in-a-can – no need for firewood with this add on. Make fire without the hassle of transporting and/or cutting wood, smelling like campfire, etc. Most of the time, these are ok with fire bans as well.
  • Outdoor Turf – this turns a dirty dusty campsite into a clean, comfy and stylish one. Lighting package – everyone needs great lighting while camping. This package covers it all! Magnetic lights, headlamps, flashlight, LED lantern etc.
  • Rotopax Fuel storage – this is especially helpful when traveling to Baja. Carry extra fuel so that you never run out again.
  • Kitchen Kit (backpacking style) – we’ve thought of it all with this kit. Pots/pans, cutlery, cooking utensils, dish soap and collapsible dish rack. Plates, cups, bowls, etc. The best thing is that it all fits into one small storage container.
  • Luxury sleeping bags – we offer single and double down or cloth sleeping bags, from 0 degree all the way up to basic shell style bags.
  • Jackery 500 + Rockpals 100W Solar panel – This portable power station will help provide off-grid power for things like charging your devices, or even powering a fridge.
  • Storage Pod – this lockable, hitch mounted, swing out storage pod can carry a ton of gear! This is especially beneficial when renting the 4Runner, as storage is limited.

Whether you plan to rent gear from us, or bring your own, we want you set to go for your trip. Feel free to schedule a call to discuss options with one of our rental experts. And remember, PACK LIGHT
